Off Road Spring Series Kicks off Sunday 28th February

xmThe XMTB McConvey Cycles Spring Series returns to Ormeau Park on Sunday 28th February, to open the cross country racing season. The Spring Series is suitable for both children and adults and the club welcomes new riders wishing to try cross country racing, to the event.

Racing starts from 10.30am for the children and from 1.00pm for the Adults. Toilets, Showers and Changing Rooms available in the Ozone Complex. Each rider will be entered into a price draw. One ticket will be allocated per round entered. Read more

Cycling Ulster MTB XC team 2016

In 2015 Cycling Ulster had sent a cross-country mountain bike team to the British NPS series. The Off-road Commission is now looking for expression of interest from riders who wish to join this team to compete at the British events in 2016.  As per 2015 the team will be made up of a maximum of 4 riders. Events this Coming Weekend

There are lots of event on this coming weekend with the Giant's Causeway Sportive on Saturday and some leisure events around the province on Sunday. The Errigal Harvest Tour has been rescheduled for the following Sunday 20th September and the Hills above Drumquin event down for Sunday will now take place in October.

A wet day at Colebrooke for the Ulster XC MTB Championships

On Sunday 23 August 2015 we woke up to heavy rain which had started in the middle of the night and had not let up. Riders still came from near and far to Colebrooke Estate in County Fermanagh for the Ulster Cross-county mountain bike championships. Host club Lakeland CC had spent a lot of time preparing the course in advance of race day and were busy on the morning checking and re-routing sections which had turned from dry, fast sections to wet, muddy bogs. A stream, which was only an inch or two deep on the Saturday was over knee deep on Sunday.… Read more

CU off-road team finish off the British NPS series

The last race in the British NPS series was held on Sunday 16 August in Cannock Chase just outside Stafford. Cycling Ulster junior riders James Curry and Sean Bradley took to the start line. Ulster MTB XC Championships – Sunday 23 August – Colebrooke Estate

The 2015 Ulster Cross-country Mountain Bike Championships will take place at Colebrooke Estate in County Fermanagh on Sunday 23 August. Host club Lakeland CC held an event here at the start of the year and Caldwell Cycles also had their round of the Ulster XC Series here in April. Podiums for Banbridge riders at Castlewellan

Castlewellan Forest Park in County Down played hosted to Round 4 of the Ulster Cross-Country Mountain Bike Series. This event doubled up as the 5th and final round of the Irish National Points Series (NPS). Hosted by Banbridge Cycling Club under the guidance of event director William Mulligan, the team of volunteers had prepared a course which started in front of the castle and used the adjoining forest utilizing natural trails, fire roads and official trail centre trails. In the lead up to the race there had been a mixture of dry and wet days which made the natural trail sections quite slippery.… Read more
