Cyclo-cross season coming soon
There is no doubt that cyclo-cross is growing across Ireland with more and more riders taking the plunge to line up and charge around the local parks. The racing is short and intense but fun-filled with varied terrain to challenge all. This weekend is the first of the Fixx series in Dublin which has been sold out. In Ulster, there is a cyclo-cross training day at Lurgan Park on Sunday with the opening first round of the Ulster series taking place the following week (4 October).… Read more
Kinning Takes Opening Round of Ulster CX Series
GP Kinning Cycles attracted the biggest names in Irish cyclocross and also pulled in a huge crowd on friday evening when they opened the cyclocross season with their event in Houston Park, Belfast. The crowd were treated to some great racing and with the course being spectator friendly the action was to be seen by all.
The set up had a real Belgium feel to it, with the small village area, commentating from The Belgian Project, Music From Music Matters NI. Victory Chimps and Power House Clothing where also on display.… Read more
Seymour, Kinning, Aiken Headline GP Kinning Cycles Cross Race.
This Friday night sees GP Kinning Cycles kick start the cross season with their event in Huston Park, Belfast. Robin Seymour, Glen Kinning & Roger Akien will be at the fore of the race. With Robin recently winning the cross race in Rathfarnham he is the man on form. Third that night was Glen Kinning just 10 seconds down.
Roger Aiken, the only man to beat Seymour in recent times, has just came of a great road season for Team Asea. Hot on their heels and in the mix will be Graham Boyd, top MTB rider.… Read more

Pre entry for GP Kinning Cycles opened on Monday 20th July at 7pm on www.racepass.co.uk. The cyclocross race will be an evening affair on Friday September 11th. Great Night’s Craic at Ulster Awards Evening
Almost 160 people showed up for the Ulster Awards evening which was held in the White River Hotel in Toome on Saturday night. If the National CX Championships were not taking place the following day this number would have been much greater as we received many apologies.
It is very heart-warming for both the Cycling Ulster Executive and for the promoters of our championships to see how people value these championships and are proud to receive an Ulster medal. It is especially good that so many of our young riders came along to receive their awards.… Read more
Ulster Riders Clean Up at CX National Championships
It was a good day for Ulster at the McNally Swords promotion of the 2015 National Cyclocross Championships in the Ward River Valley Park. In a close fought battle David Montgomery of Chain Reaction Cycles took on an in form Glen Kinning of Kinning Cycles. For the first hjalf of the race these two were neck and neck. Unfortunately Glen got material stuck in his gears and when he cleared the debris rode hard to make up lost time. He then cramped badly and struggled on maintaining his second placing from Tim O'Regan (DID) until the closing stages.… Read more

The National Cyclocross Championship takes place this Sunday in Swords promoted by McNally Swords CC . The event has attracted a large entry across all categories and all is set for an exciting day of racing.
The full entry list and the starting grids can be downloaded at the end of this article. All riders are reminded that these races are being run in accordance with Cycling Ireland Rules. Please remember to bring a print out or screenshot of your 2015 licence. Ulster Awards Night 10th January
The Ulster Awards evening will take place on Saturday 10th January in the White River Hotel in Toome. Special guest for the evening will be the President of Cycling Ireland, Denis Toomey. Other invited guests include Jack and Rea Watson, Morris Foster and Alan Mark.
The evening is always very enjoyable and well attended. Many of our youngest cyclists attend the evening to receive their awards. For this reason all those under 14 years of age will have the same three course meal as the adults but it will be subsidised by Cycling Ulster.… Read more
Four seasons at the 2014 Ulster Cyclo-cross Championships at Drum Manor
Carn Wheelers played host to the Ulster Cyclo-cross championships for the third year in a row at Drum Manor forest which is located outside of Cookstown in County Tyrone (14 December 2014). Sunshine and Muck at Falls Park
It was an historic day for Falls park last Sunday when the first ever cyclocross event took place. The event was packed and cars were parked the length of the Falls Road.
VC Glendale were hosting the event and had certainly put in the groundwork. Pre-event planning had covered all the bases and the route markers were out in force from 6.30 that morning.
Frank Campbell and Joe Smyth, long time stalwarts of the club all played their part. Brendan Doherty known as the Doc, was the driving force behind staging the event and he was a busy man on the day.… Read more
