Cyclo-cross Round 4 on Sunday 6 November

Round 4 of the popular Ulster Cyclo-Cross Series will take place on Sunday 6 November 2011 at Moira Demesne, hosted by Dromara Cycling Club. There are races for under 8s, under 10s, under 12s, under 14s and under 16s. For the over 16s there is a mountain bike support race for those who do not own a cyclo-cross bike. The main event is the cyclo-cross race which begins at 1 pm and is expected to attract a large entry of riders.

Cyclo-cross races are full of action with short courses meaning lots of laps, a great spectator sport.… Read more

There are races for under 8s, under 10s, under 12s, under 14s and under 16s. For the over 16s there is a mountain bike support race for those who do not own a cyclo-cross bike. The main event is the cyclo-cross race which begins at 1 pm and is expected to attract a large entry of riders.

Aiken Takes Round 2 Ulster CX League

In what could only be described as glorious conditions, Phoenix CC promoted Round 2 of the Ulster Cyclo Cross League today at Lady Dixon Park in Belfast. The park itself was a magnificent setting and the car parks were filled to capacity as hundreds came along to support the event.

The morning was given over to the young off road riders and each category saw large numbers of participants. This was followed by the mountain bike support race which again drew big numbers for the technical course.… Read more

Great start to the Ulster Cyclo-cross season at Lurgan Park

On Sunday 2 October 2011 Apollo Cycling Team played host to the first round of the Ulster Cyclo-cross season 2011. The venue was the superb Lurgan Park which also hosted the 2011 Irish Cyclo-cross championships back in January this year. A special thanks to Craigavon Borough Council for allowing the use of the park and to the park staff for their support.

The weather up to the event had been very wet with lots of heavy downpours. This left the park sodden with standing water in sections.… Read more

Sun shone at the Cyclo-Cross training day

The Cycling Ulster Off-road Commission held a training day on Saturday 17 September 2011 for senior riders who wanted to take part in this year's cyclo-cross season. Cyclo-cross racing throughout Ireland has been steadily improving both in terms of numbers attending and the standard of the courses and race organisation. With this in mind the commission felt it appropriate to provide an information and training day to support both riders who were wishing to take up the sport this season and to those who had already had experience of this form of winter competition.… Read more

Cyclo-Cross Training Day 17 September

With the upcoming Cyclo-cross season about to start in October, the Cycling Ulster Off-road commission have organised a Cyclo-cross training day on Saturday 17 September 2011 at Lurgan Park. Start time 10 am. Finish 2 pm. Refreshments supplied.

There will be a mix of classroom style talks on training, nutrition etc before the practical work outside. The training is aimed at those aged 16 or over who will be taking part in cyclo-cross races this year and the cost will be £5 per person.

All riders must have a current Cycling Ireland licence.… Read more
