The Ever Popular Freewheelers Tour of Lough Neagh This Saturday.
The annual Freewheelers charity cycle tour / wheelchair push organised by the Ulster Hand Cycling Association will take place on Saturday 3rd August 2013. This will be the 23rd year of this popular event.
Participants should assemble at the Antrim Forum Peace Carpark between 9.00am -9.30am, and report to the 'event registration desk' in order to receive an official participation number. This number will entitle persons to the refreshments which will be available on route. A minimum donation of £10 will be accepted at the desk by those wishing to take part but do not possess a sponsor form.… Read more
Tyrone County TT Champs on Sunday 4th August.
West Tyrone Velo will promote the inaugural Tyrone County Time Trial Championships on Sunday 4th August. The event will be over 10 miles on the Dromore Rd (A32), Omagh. The event is open to all with prizes being awarded to the top 3 overall, regardless of their county. County champions will also be crowned for the leading A1/2, 3/4 and ladies.
To be eligible for the county championship prize you must satisfy one of the following: 1) Member of a club registered in Tyrone, 2) Resident in Tyrone (address must be on your CI licence).… Read more

Yorkshire Cycling Academy from the south west of South Africa are already travelling to Donegal for the Errigal Youth Tour this weekend.

Moore and Russell Take Omagh Victories After Hard Fought Final Stage.
In the men's race Caldwell Cycles rider Darnell Moore, who was active throughout the stage race, claimed the final winner's yellow jersey after picking up second place on the stage to his team mate Bernard McCullagh. Third place on the stage went to Gary Miller of Phoenix. The top three on GC are Moore, McCullagh and in third Joseph McCrory of team Superseal Windows.
In the woman's race Judith Russell rode clear to take the final stage by 32 seconds from Anne McFarland and 1:35 from yellow jersey wearer Mary Angela Taylor. … Read more
Thomas Martin Wins Wallace Caldwell Memorial.
On Saturday Ballymena Road Club hosted one of Ulster's classic road races, the Wallace Caldwell Memorial road race. This event is usually run off in March but was postponed this year due to the snow.
Thomas Martin of Eurocycles took the win ahead of strongman Bryan McCrystal of Cuchullainn CC. Martin's team-mate Conor Murphy took third place.
As usual Ballymena Road Club pulled out all the stops to make this a successful event and there was plenty of refreshments following the race.
This event receives support from the PSNI motorbike outriders and a control vehicle.… Read more
Tour of Omagh Stage 3 – McNally and Taylor Take Stage and Yellow.
This morning's third and decisive TT stage of the Omagh 3 day saw a win for Gerard McNally of Team Superseal Windows which means he takes over the yellow jersey going into the final road stage by 3 seconds over Cathal Hendron of Apollo.
In the woman's race Mary Angela Taylor of Carn Wheelers now holds the yellow jersey by 11 seconds from overnight leader McFarland.

Omagh Stage 2 – Moore Takes Stage, O’Neill Takes Yellow. Woman’s Race – McFarland Takes Stage and Jersey.
Darnell Moore of Caldwell Cycles Omagh took the second stage of the Tour of Omagh in another bunch sprint today while John O'Neill's second place saw the Omagh Wheelers man take the yellow jersey. However with 51 riders all on the same time on GO the time trial tomorrow morining could live up to it's billing of the race of truth for the eventual winner.
In the woman's race Ann McFarland of East Tyrone took the stage from overnight yellow jersey Jude Russell of Phoenix. This was enough for McFarland to take the yellow from Russell but again there are three riders on the same time on GC and so the TT tomorrow morning will be the big test.… Read more
Finn and Russell Take Yellow in Omagh 3 Day.
The first stage of the Omagh 3 day was won by Michael Finn of Barrow Wheelers in a bunch sprint. Second was Richard Archer of East Tyrone CC and third was Julian Dunlop of Lakeland CC. The woman's race is being lead by Judith Russell of Phoenix CC with Ann Mcfarland of East Tyrone in second place and Julie Ray also of Phoenix in third.
Finn also leads the sprints classification while Darnell Moore of Caldwell Cycles leads both the King of the Hills competition and the prestigious combativity classification.… Read more
