All Ireland A3/Vet/Jun Champs Race Pack Released.

This coming weekend Omgh Wheelers will promote the 2013 All-Ireland Vets/Junior Time Trial Championships and the A3/Junior Road Race Championships .

The race pack which contains rider lists, details of the routes to be used and other useful information has been released and can be downloaded below.

I'm sure you will all join me in wishing all Ulster riders and Omagh Wheelers the best of luck for the event.

Noel Collins wins 2013 Madigan Cycles G.P. at Klroot

Team Madigan Cycling Club, Carrickfergus hosted the 25th Madigan Cycles Grand Prix at Kilroot near Carrickfergus Co. Antrim on Saturday 3rd August.
This year the Madigan G.P. followed the World Police & Fire Games Road Races that took place in the morning using the same course, and for the 25th year the Madigan G.P. race was again kindly sponsored by Mr Ronnie McKeegan of Madigan Cycles / Madigan Pro Bike Centre in Carrickfergus, and also for the fifth year by Carrickfergus Borough Council.… Read more

Errigal International Youth Tour Report.

Last weekend Errigal CC promoted the Errigal International Youth Tour for the second year.  The four stage event was as big as success as last year and Cycling Ulster would like to congratulate the organisers as well as all the riders, parents, guardians and helpers who went to Donegal last weekend.  A particular word of congratulations goes to all the Ulster riders including the eight riders who rode in the Cycling Ulster teams.  Please find post race report from Errigal CC and  some photos below.
All who attended this weekends event agreed that in terms of Youth Cycling the Youth Tour is a magnificent example of how it can be done and how an event such as this can only inspire and promote Irish Cycling to not only the UK but globally.… Read more

Tour of Rathmullan 2013

Next Sunday 11th August,the town of Rathmullan will come to life when the 3rd Annual Tour of Rathmullan Cycle Race takes place.Cycle racing is relatively new to the area and if history is anything to go by,that is due to change.Rathmullan does not do anything by halves.It always did things better! Going back over 400 years,it witnessed the Flight of the Earls,the dramatic event which saw the most powerful tribes of the North West,the O'Donnells and the O'Neills loss their lands and their traditional leaders when Hugh O'Donnell and Hugh O'Neill sailed off from here to live in Spain.… Read more


Billy Stewart Cup Sunday 11th August

The Billy Stewart Cup promoted by Apollo CT takes place this coming Sunday 11th August. This is always a very popular event in the Ulster calendar. There are two races on offer. One race for the A4's and an A race for A2 and A3 riders only.

Online entry for the 2013 Billy Stewart Cup went live on ENTRY CENTRAL @ 6PM Friday 19th July!

There is a £375 prize fund , split over the 2 races:

B race A4 catagory 56km (80 rider limit) (top 6 money prize)
A race A2 + A3 catagory 96km (80 rider limit) (top 6 money prize & first unplaced A3 + Junior riders)

Sign on from The Goodyear Social Club Lurgan 11am on the day, with roll out @ 1300.

Cycling Ulster Youth RR and TT Sessions Continue This Sunday.

The Cycling Ulster youth RR and TT training sessions will continue with another session this Sunday 11th Aug.   This session is open to both male and female riders who race in the U16 or U14 age categories.  There is no need for pre-entry, just come along on the day. The session will begin at 12:00 in the University of Ulster’s Jordanstown campus.

The session will begin with a skills session which will last for about an hour in which we will cover advanced cornering and sprinting, parents/guardians are asked to assist the coaches during the skills session.  … Read more

Dromara CC’s Mourne Sportive and Hilly Leisure Tours – 11 Aug 2013

On Sunday 11 August 2013, Dromara Cycling Club will be hosting their annual Mourne Sportive and Hilly Leisure Tours. There will be again four routes to chose from which should provide a challenge for all riders. The 'big' event on the day will be the infamous Mourne Sportive, described by some as the toughest one day tour in Ireland. This 169 km route will take riders into the heart of the Mourne Mountains climbing over 11,000 feet across many of its famous peaks including Coyle’s Hill, Spelga, Windy Gap and Dree Hill.… Read more

The Blair International Red Hand Trophy Open For Pre-Entry.

The Red Hand Trophy race, promoted by Ballymena Road Club and sponsored by the Blair International haulage company is one of the oldest and most scenic road races in Ulster and is a local classic.  This year the race will be held on Saturday 24th Aug.  Pre-entries are open to A1, A2 and A3 riders and will close on Wed 21st Aug.  Please find a link to the pre-entry form below.
