Maxwell Breaks Irish Jun Woman’s Record, Christie Goes close to Irish Record.

Last Thursday night was round 5 of the Ernie Magwood super 6 TT series.  It was held on what is acknowledged to be the fastest TT courses in the country at Woodgreen between Antrim and Ballymena and the times recorded at the event only strengthen that claim.   The conditions on the night were just right for those who had trained hard all year to go for a PB, or even an Irish record.

The in form Marcus Christie continued his very impressive TTing this summer and produced an 18:32 for a new PB and a time only 11 seconds off David McCann's long standing Irish record.  … Read more

Swinand and Dunbar Claim All Ireland Titles

gsOn Saturday Omagh Wheelers promoted  the National Veteran's and Junior Time Trial Championships. While weather conditions were not exactly ideal with contestants facing a biting wind, Omagh Wheelers ensured however that everything else was in place.

There were lots of marshalls around the course and the usual Omagh Wheelers hospitality went some way to warm the participants.

Greg Swinand of Usher IRC put in a supreme effort to lift the coveted National Time with his time of 53.16, over a minute and a half faster then well known Ulster time triallist, John Heverin of Clann Eireann who lifted the silver medal.… Read more

Atlantic to Titanic Cycle Challenge

dia‘Strive For 5’ is a group of cyclists from across Northern Ireland who not only share a passion for cycling but also know what it means to manage diabetes in their daily lives. They will be taking part in the ‘Atlantic to Titanic Cycle Challenge’ on Saturday 28th September 2013 and they want you to get involved.

They will be starting the challenge in Ballyshannon at 8.00am and then moving on to Belleek, Enniskillen, Tempo, Fintona, Augher, Aughnacloy, Benburb, Moy, Portadown, Lurgan, Moira, Lisburn and finishing at Titanic Belfast.… Read more

Errigal Host Ulster Youth Championships on Sunday

Following on from their very successful promotion of the International Youth Tour the hard working Donegal based, Errigal Cycling Club,  will promote the Ulster Youth Championhips this coming Sunday. This is a must for all Youth and especially for those who hope to take part in the National Youth Championships promoted by Slaney CC on Saturday 24th.

This is a very important event on the Cycling Ulster Calendar and we would encourage as many Youth riders as possible to go along to the event. This  should be an exciting day of championship racing for Ulster Youths.… Read more

Camlough CC’s The Hog Run – This Sunday

hogCamlough Cycling Club would like to invite cyclists to their upcoming event 'The Hog Run' which takes place this Sunday 18th August and will help raise funds for The Track Of The Foot Brain Tumour Fund.

The Hog Run is open to cyclists of all abilities from beginner to advanced. The event is not a race but a Cycle Sportive. There will be two distances to cover 53k/32 miles and 88km/54 miles.

The nice thing about a Cycle Sportive is that it’s a great social occasion, invariably you will meet and chat with people you have never met before and will probably not meet again until your next Sportive or you might make a lifelong friend.… Read more

Super Six TT Round 5 Thursday 15th August

This Thursday the 15th August sees the 5th round of the Ernie Magwood Super 6 Time Trial Series take place at at Woodgreen.

The event starts at 7.00pm sharp with sign on from 6.00pm. Working rear lights are compulsory and competitors are asked to ride in a safe and legal manner at all times. Do not pass the timekeeper once the event has started unless you are actually finishing.

Good luck to Young Mtbers in Austria

Best wishes to our three Banbridge Cycling Club members  James Curry, Shannon Buller  and John Buller as they make their way to Graz in Southern Austria this weekend .  They are part of a team of six and will join fellow Cycling Ireland members Leah Maunsell, Patrick Michel and Jamie Grifferty to represent Ireland , as part of the Youth Development XC mountain bike  team as they compete in the UEC European Mountain bike Championships. They have put a lot of hard work and training into this team and the upcoming event.  … Read more

Bann Valley’s Popular Tour of the North Coast This Sunday.

The annual Bann Valley Road Club charity cycle, The Tour of the North Coast, takes place on Sunday next the 18th August. The start will be from Portglenone Community Centre at 10am with sign on from 9.30. The fee will be £10.00 with an extra £2.00 for a day licence for non Cycling Ireland members.

The route this year will take the cyclists from Portglenone through Rasharkin, Ballymoney, and Bushmills to the north coast and from there to Portrush, Portstewart, Coleraine and back to Portglenone, with refreshments available at the halfway point.… Read more

Tour of the Orchard County Raises Thousands For Local Charities.

photoOrchard CC recently promoted their annual Tour of the Orchard County and were able to donate the money raised to several worthy local charities, details of which are outlined by Paul Williams of the club below.  CU would like to congratulate Orchard CC on their fundraising efforts and the difference they are making to their local community.

Orchard CC are pleased to report that from the money raised at this years Tour of the Orchard County the Armagh Tigers Charitable Trust were this year able to present a cheque for £5000 to the Armagh Branch of the NSPCC.  … Read more
