Ulster Cyclo-cross championships 2013 + support races
This Sunday (15 December 2013) the 8th and final round of the 2013 Ulster Cyclo-cross series will take place at Drum Manor Forest outside Cookstown. Host club Carn Wheelers is busy preparing the course which they promise to be shorter, faster and more flowing than last year. The A' race men and women's event will also double up as the Ulster Cyclo-cross championships. There will be the usual support races for cyclo-cross B' riders, mountain bike support as well as the full range of youth races from Under 6s up to Under 16s.… Read more

Omagh Wheelers Development Program
Building on its success in 2013, Omagh Wheelers, the grass-roots club in the heart of Co. Tyrone has decided continue to run the development program. The program was first introduced in late 2012, and offers young, talented, local riders the opportunity to receive support in both training and equipment. The program is aimed to develop riders so that they achieve their potential, and to race at a high level. The program in its first year proved to be massive success.
The two riders chose for the 2013 season were Angus Fyffe and Marc Potts.… Read more
Reminder Cycling Ireland Roadshow Omagh 9th December
Cycling Ireland are running a series of Roadshows around Ireland, where you can see the new on-line registration system in action, learn how to use it and ask any relevant questions you would like Cycling Ireland to address. The road show is designed to help club officials, become familiar with the new system. This system has the capability to remove a lot of paperwork and should make life easier for club admisistrators in the future so it is important to get the training now.
The Cycling Ireland Team will be in the Silver Birches Hotel in Omagh next Monday night the 9th December.… Read more
No Applications for Ulster Championships
With the 2014 calendar due to close on Tuesday to go to print Cycling Ulster has received no applications for the Ulster Road Race championships in respect of Seniors, Women, Veterans and Juniors. We also seeking applications for the Ulster 25mile Time trial Championships which was promoted very successfully in 2013 by the UCPC on a new and testing course.

Women’s Development Forum Saturday 14th December
There will be an open forum regarding the development Women's Cycling in Ulster at the Premier Inn Lisburn on the 14th December from 15.00-18.00. The day is open to everyone with an interest in women's cycling.
The meeting will try to cover all aspects of cycling including racing, leisure, female youths, as well as Ulster team opportunities.
It is hoped that if everything goes well that there will be an opportunity to form a women's committee which will have members who will represent the different cycling disciplines such as road racing, time trial, leisure, off road and track.… Read more
Carn Wheelers to Host Tour of Ulster 2014
After taking on the Tour of Ulster in 2013, Carn Wheelers will once again promote the event for 2014.
The event, which is one of the prestigious stage races in the Irish Cycling calendar was won in 2013 by Cork man Joe Fenlon riding for the Aqua Blue team.
The King of the Hills jersey was claimed by Roger Aiken – who has been to the fore in the current Cyclo Cross season and Javan Nulty from DID Dunboyne CC bagged the Under 23 jersey.

Proposed Bill Re Rates Exemption for Sports Clubs
Sinn Fein MLA, Daithi McKay launched a Private Members Bill this week at Stormont to exempt Amateur Sports Clubs from Rates bringing Northern Ireland into line with legislation in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. The Bill is now out for an eight week consultation period.
While many cycling clubs do not currrently have premises of their own there are a growing number who are looking into acquiring these. This proposed bill, if passed, will see an end to the rates burden on sports clubs who do so much good work.… Read more
