The Decathlon-B'twin  Classic Tour of Ards 2014 Open for Entry
The Decathlon-B'twin  Classic Tour of Ards 2014  takes place on Saturday 22 March 11am. There will be a  rolling start from St Patrick’s hall behind the chapel (North Street )in Newtownards.

Sign will be open from 9.30 am till 10.45am. Due to the added sponsorship of Decathlon Belfast Ards CC will have a prize fund of £750 with the winner taking home £175 .This will attract a lot of good riders, and it is a good race to prepare for the Des Hanlon  the day after.… Read more


Report on Commonwealth Games Training Camp

aA strong Northern Ireland Cycling team headed off to Glasgow on the 9th February as part of a recce for the Commonwealth Games.

The team, headed by Ryan Connor,

was keen to get as much out of the trip as possible.

The first day saw us arrive in Glasgow at the Beardmore hotel and straight out onto the bikes to take in the road course aided by Neil McLeod of Scottish Cycling. Gordon Goldie gave the team a talk that evening with tips on training roads and the best routes to go which was well received by the team.… Read more


Majorca Training Camp for Irish Juniors

Ireland's early season Junior Squad has been named ahead of the first overseas training camp of 2014. The eleven person team comprising of 3 junior women and 8 junior men, were selected based on recent trials and previous performances.  On Monday the squad will travel to Majorca, coinciding with the school midterm break, to train intensively both on the roads and in the indoor Velodrome.

Places Available for Safeguarding Courses

Cycling Ulster will be running a number of Safeguarding Awareness Courses (Child Protection) in the comng weeks. We are seeking expressions of interest from those are hoping to  attend these courses.

All courses  begin at 7.00pm and last approximately three hours with a break at the halfway stage. The courses will be delivered by Patrick McAleavey and Marian Lamb who are trained SportNI/NSPCC Tutors..

All club Safeguarding Officers must complete this course before going on to do the Designated Officer Course which is normally delivered by the Local Authorities through SportNI.… Read more

Banbridge Reflect on Success

BanbridgeThe reputation of Banbridge CC for producing a steady stream of competitive riders of all ages and from all disciplines is well known throughout Ireland and beyond. In more recent years the activities of its members have greatly diversified.

While it has road, track and MTB champions the club also has members who have won places on the Irish Para- cycling Team, the Ulster coaching network, the national and international commissaires’ panel and on a number of representational and sponsored bike racing teams.

Be Part of the Giro – Volunteer Now

Giro low res LogoVolunteer Now, in conjunction with Cycling Ulster, are offering cyclists the unique opportunity to be part of an hstoric occasion by volunteering to marshall at the Giro d'Italia in May. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Due to an assessment of the various courses more marshalls are required.

All volunteers will need to attend 2-3 short training sessions which will be held in various places around the country at various times in order to suit as many people as possible.

Volunteers will only be required to commit to volunteer on one day of the Giro leaving you time to do your own thing on the other days.… Read more

Lots of Reliability Trials this Weekend Including Youth RT

Maryland reliability Sunday February  16th 2014
Maryland Wheeler’s annual reliability trial takes place around south Down Sunday 16h February. This year, the trial will again start and finish at the Lisburn Square car park adjacent to the new bus station. Toilets are available in the bus station.

  • Sign-on opens at 8.30am and closes at 9.20am
  • As it is a reliability trial riders should note that it is their responsibility to ensure that the condition of their bicycle, and themselves, is sufficient for them to complete the distance.

Dine or Ride With Sean Kelly This Weekend

Preparations have been made and the finishing touches are being put in place for what will be a gala night for cycling fans in the region. Sean 'king' Kelly is guest star at Emyvale Cycling Club's annual dinner dance this Saturday night in the Four Seasons Hotel Monaghan.

Tickets are still available but are selling fast and anyone who is considering going would need to contact a club member or call into Francie Mc Quaid Tyres Monaghan or George's Cyclo Sport shop in Emyvale. The event is open not only to cyclists but anyone who wishes to avail of a very good deal of having a sumptuous four course meal including steak with quality music, dancing, an international sport star and many other surprises on the night!… Read more


Plans for Men’s National Road Race Series

Details of a new National Road Race Series for Ireland's top male riders are being finalised by Cycling Ireland, in an effort to encourage riders to compete together as often as possible. Draft plans are currently being discussed by the Provincial Executives, with the proposed roll-out in the upcoming season.

With the races evenly spread across all four provinces, and several events in each province, the aim is to have Ireland's top national level riders competing alongside each other as often as possible. The National Series will provide a season long focus for the country's top domestic riders.… Read more

Spires GP Open for Entries on Wednesday

Entries to the Spires GP will open at 7.00pm sharp this Wednesday 12th February. Spires CC will be promoting three events on Saturday 1st March.

The A Race (A1/A2/A3) will be 6 laps with a field of 70 riders max with a waiting list. The B Race (A4) will 4 laps with 60 riders max with a waiting list.

Spires CC are also proud to be promoting a Masters and Women's event which will  be three laps of the course and will be limited to 70 riders.… Read more
