Scully Conquers Glengesh But Feeley is Winner

aAttack, Attack, Attack was the watchword of today’s sixty mile stage of Rás Dhun na nGall. With ten riders less than a minute off  ‘Yellow’  and category  prizes such Young Rider and King of the Mountains being hotly contested there was everything to play for today.

Feely Retains Yellow Ahead of Final Stage in Ardara

aaaThere was no evidence of tired legs following the hilly Time Trial this morning when Stage Three of the 2014 Edition of Rás Dhún na nGall got underway this afternoon. All those who had been champing at the bit on the neutralised zone sprung to life when the words, "Race On Race On" were uttered.

Almost inmmediately the attacks began and the pace increased making it very difficult for some riders who were trying to make their way back into the bunch following early mechanicals.

Great XC Event in Lady Dixon Park

Lady Dixon Park in Belfast was the venue for third round of the 2014 Irish National Point Series (NPS) which took place on Sunday 25 May.  This round also doubled up as Round 3 of the Ulster Cross-country mountain bike series and was hosted by local club Xmtb McConvey Cycles.  This venue has known some great racing over the last 5 years and normally the riders would be enjoying dry dusty and fast trails around the beautiful park which is managed by Belfast City Council.  This year however the skies were overcast and the threat of rain was in the air.  … Read more

Pantani – The Legend Lives On

slaneAThe Giro d’Italia has come and gone but it has left a host of memories for the thousands of cycling fans who witnessed its historic visit to our shores. This year's edition of the race will produce its own heroes and villains but on a recent visit to Slane Cycles on the Andersonstown Road in Belfast I was poignantly reminded of one of my own heroes of our sport.

On a stand on the counter was the Bianchi used by Marco Pantani in 1998 when he won both the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France….the last person ever to achieve that historic double.… Read more
