Commonwealth Games Selection

The final selection for the Commonwealth Games squad has been chosen and I am delighted to introduce the line up for cycling for Glasgow 2014. A lot of hard work has gone into getting cycling places for the games and it is brilliant to know we are getting 14 places as well as three coaches the most that the sport has ever had.

Groucho GP – entries

Pre-entry for the Groucho's GP races on Saturday 21st June 2014 will open this evening at 7.45 pm on Entry Central. The entry fee for both the A2/A3 event and the A4 event is £12 and as per last year both groups will use the Richhill, Hamiltonsbawn, Marlacoo, Richhill circuit with the A2/A3 riders completing 8 laps and the A4 riders 6 laps. On race day sign-on for both events will open at 11.00 am in Groucho's Bar, The Square, Richhill. The A2/A3 race will start at 12.30 pm and the A4 race at 12.35 pm.… Read more


Audi Grand Prix Report

The extremely wet weather on Saturday 7th June 2014 meant a reduced field of only the hardiest competitors braved the conditions for the Audi Grand Prix promoted by East Antrim CC - Isaac Agnew - Audi. A course inspection of the Ballynure circuit on the morning of the race found standing water on some of the back roads but after a quick consultation between the organisers and the Commissaire, Maurice McAllister, the race was confirmed as on with the brave riders given warning of the conditions to expect.… Read more


Bike For Life Leader Course

BikeForLifeCycling Ireland will be hosting a 'Bike For Life' Leader Course on Saturday 21 June 2014 at the House of Sport, Upper Malone Road, Belfast (10 am to 5 pm). The course is a one day course with both theory and practical based elements. However, greater emphasis will be placed on the practical aspect of this course and will include some bike riding. Places are strictly limited to 14 and I would therefore request that you apply early to secure your place.

Top class action at North Down GP

The rain which affected Saturday`s Audi GP did not hit the County Down `gold coast` for Sunday`s North Down GP, and although grey clouds threatened throughout the windswept race, there was only a brief shower on the penultimate lap of the feature race to cool the full field of riders in the North Down CC promotion.

Early in the day the Masters and Under 16 event had come together, with one from each forging ahead for a three-lap breakaway which saw Noel Boyce (North Down CC) and Jake Gray (East Tyrone CC) win their respective events.… Read more


08/06/2014 Champion of Champion 25 Mile Time Trial

Christian Nachtigall (Phoenix) was an impressive winner of the Champion of Champions 25 mile Time Trial in 57:37.
Following torrential rain for most of Saturday, it was a relief to wake up this morning to see the sun peeking through, but there was still a strong breeze and Chris Boardman’s course and event record of 49:36 never looked in danger.
Second overall was Derek Ferguson (Kings Moss), with local speed merchant Robin Millar (Ards CC) taking third for the host club.

Noel Teggart Open for Entries Tomorrow

Banbridge CC will once again host the annual Noel Teggart Memorial races this Sunday, 22th June, based around the popular 11½ mile rolling Banbridge/Gilford/Scarva/Banbridge circuit.

The organising committee and team of volunteers have a busy day ahead of them with a full programme of 6 races to run including races for each youth category which will form part of the Ulster Youth League. While the senior 'A' race will have a handicap between the A1 & A2 riders, the 'B' race for A3's and 'C' race for A4's will both be scratch races and are sure to attract a full field.… Read more


Are you Still a Vetted Leader

Cycling Ulster has worked diligently to ensure we offer a safe environment for our young people. To do so all clubs and individuals working with young people inder the age of 18 must be aware of their legal duty to be vetted through AccessNI. This is a legal requirement and failure to do so can result in a hefty fine both for the individual and for the club.

Cycling Ulster is the Umbrella body for all Ulster clubs including those in Donegal,Cavan and Monaghan. Through the Lead Safguarding Officer , Patrick McAleavey and the designated signatory, Marian Lamb, Cycling Ulster can facilitate the processing of the Vetting Forms.… Read more

Kilbride Charity Cycle - Saturday  7th June
Kilbride Cyclists are proud to offer a scenic country route of 90km around County Antrim which has a few inclines and takes a break in Glenarm for refreshments. So whether you are a serious cyclist or a novice wanting to cycle the distance for the first time the Kilbride Cyclists Charity Challenge is the event for you! The Challenge starts and finishes at Kilbride Presbyterian Church which has ample car parking and changing facilities. En-route there will be water stations, a “broom wagon” for breakdowns etc.… Read more

Tuesday 3rd June - Jimmy Devlin “10” - Woodgreen (A26)
Tomorrow, Tuesday 3rd June, Phoenix CC will host The Jimmy Devlin “10” time trial on the Woodgreen (A26) course.Sign-on will open at 6pm and close at 6.50pm with the first rider starting at 7pm, In order to facilitate an efficient sign-on, riders were encouraged to pre enter.

Starting times will be allocated at 1 minute intervals in the order they are received by EntryCentral. Riders entering on the night will be subject to a £6 entry fee and will start after the pre entered riders.… Read more
