Newry Three Day Details

Newry Wheelers are delighted to promote the Annual Newry Wheelers 3 Day race.  The event will take place on the weekend of Friday 30th June to Sunday 2nd JulyThe race started in 1987 by local man Noel Mc Kinley and is still going strong. The stage race is one of the most popular on the Irish cycling calendar and has attracted a bumper field with some of the country's finest bike riders. Noel Teggart Races Open for Entry

Pre-entry for the 2017 Noel Teggart Memorial opened on Tuesday 6th June via the Cycling Ireland web portal.  A total of 6 races will be on offer for what looks set to be a busy and exciting day of racing
in Banbridge. The flagship event for the day will cater for A1 & A2 riders covering a total distance of 130km over 7 laps of the well-known Banbridge/Gilford/Scarva circuit.  A separate race will be hosted to cater for the A3 and A3 Junior riders, using the same course but with a reduced distance of 110km  covering 6 laps.… Read more

McLaughlin In Yellow Again as Ward Takes Stage 3

aStage three of Rás Dhun na nGall took to the roads from Ardara to Glenties to Portnoo this afternoon to cover three laps of an 18 mile circuit. While things may have been close in GC going into the stage there were a lot of time bonuses up for grabs on this stage the first two passes of the finish line had points 3, 2, 1 for the first three while on  the final pass these points were doubled. As a result attacks began almost from the off and leaving some riders out the back in the first few miles.… Read more

Newry Three Day Open For Entries

On Friday 30th June to Sunday 2nd July, Newry wheelers will be promoting their popular 3 day road race stage event which is now in its 30th year.

The club are delighted to have Spin 11, Mc Kinley Contracts, PKF-FPM,Cycling Ulster and Plumbmaster on board to sponsor the event. The event is also unique in that it allows A1 riders who are Masters M40 M50 to enter. Race organiser Drew McKinley says the A1 M40s add to the race and give the upcoming Juniors something to think about over the 3 days of racing.… Read more

Cycling Fever Returns to Donegal with Ras Dhun na nGall 2017

After all the excitement around Donegal with the visit of the An Post Rás last weekend, cycling fans will be treated to more cycle racing when the showpiece Rás Dhun na nGall takes to the roads around Ardara over the coming weekend. Sponsored by the Nesbitt Arms Hotel and the Ardara Town Traders, this exciting and colourful stage race will see 120 of the country's best young riders take on some of Ireland's most difficult cycling terrain. Riders from the Four Masters CC and local clubs in the northwest will race against some of the top up- and- coming riders hoping to make the Ireland team, as well as established riders competing for the love of the sport.… Read more

Ethan Downey Snatches Dramatic Win at Dunloy

Ethan Downey (Clann Eireann) and Conor Gallagher (Castlebar CC) staged a classic breakaway and sprinted together in the combined A1/2/3 Race today in Dunloy. In sun soaked North Antrim Downey came out tops at the line in a 62 rider talent packed field which took on 4 laps of the tough 18 miles 'Millbrae' Circuit.

Dale Bonnar from Ballymena Road Club took victory in the A4 race with Darren McCann  Dromara CC) and Peadar O'Mochlain (Emyvale CC) taking 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Lisa Lamont from Team Madigan won the Women's race and Chris McCann from Phoenix CC the M50 Masters event.… Read more

Inglis Lifts Red Hand Trophy

Ian Inglis of Black Rose CC took perhaps the biggest win of his career when he crossed the finish line in first position in the Red Hand Trophy Race promoted by Ballymena CRC. The Red Hand Trophy dates back to 1898 and is possibly one of the oldest and a long standing event in the calendar. This event receives full PSNI support as it winds its way from Broughshane through the Glens of Antrim, an arduous 70 miles. As usual racing was fast and furious with some riders being dropped early on.… Read more
