Tour Of Ards 2016 Now Open for Entry

32This year's Tour Of Ards will take place on Saturday 12th March. The route is the same as last year, starting down the Portaferry Road before taking Mountstewart Road over to Ballywalter, and taking in two laps of a circuit Kircubbin – Portaferry – Portavogie in an anti-clockwise direction. Then the classic run up the Strangford Lough coast road to finish outside Londonderry Park. Total distance is just over 100km. George Rooney Phoenix GP Open for Entry on Tuesday 9th

pvThe start of the road racing season is just round the corner and before it comes the pre-entry race for places in the early season events.

The George Rooney Phoenix Grand Prix will take place on Sunday 21st February this year and will be kindly sponsored by Portview Fit-Out Ltd who specialise in high quality interior fit-outs for private and retail clients. (www.portview.co.uk).

Pre-Entry for Annaclone Opens Today

On Saturday 20th February Banbridge CC will open the Ulster road race calendar with their promotion of the Travers Engineering Annaclone GP. The event takes place over an eight mile rolling circuit.

There will be two races will be on offer which will include a handicapped race catering for A1, A2 and A3 categories and a mass start A4 support race. The ‘A’ race for A1,2 &3’s will be 6 laps of the circuit for a total race distance of approx. 47.5mi / 76.5km.  The ‘B’ race for A4’s will cover 4 laps of the same course giving a total distance of approx.… Read more

McCartan Wins Ulster Masters League

The Cycling Ulster Master’s League started with the Phoenix GP in Feb 2015 and finished with the North Down GP in Aug 2015. Overall, there were 19 races with about 80 racers taking part in many of the events. A special mention must go to the outgoing organisers Tommy Lamb & Colin Hughes who both were instrumental in setting up the league.

The results for the Ulster Master’s league top 3 have been finalised as follows - In first place was the ever consistent Neil McCarten of Powerhouse Sport with 220 points taking 4 second places, 2 third places, 2 thirds and a host of top 6 finishes.… Read more

Youth Squad For Sheffield for Inter-regional Championships

An 8 rider Cycling Ulster Youth squad will head to Sheffield this weekend for the season-ending British Cycling UK Inter-Regional Youth Championships which will take place over three days with racing centred around the National Trust property at Thoresby Hall in Nottinghamshire.

The Cycling Ulster team will comprise four Girls and four Boys, witha strong representation of National Champions and medallists among the number.

The Boys’ team is made up of Adam Ward (Omagh Wheelers), Harvey Barnes (East Tyrone CC), Conor Halvey (Errigal CC) and Xeno Young (Powerhouse Sport),whilst the girls have North Down CC duo of Molly McLarnon and Katie Armstrong along with Shauna McFadden (Errigal CC) and Amanda Gallagher (Caldwell Cycles Omagh).… Read more

Doogan and Gray for Worlds

Two Ulster riders have been seleted to represent Ireland in the World Road Race Championships in America later this month. Exciting Racing at Ulster Road Race Championships 2015

aFoyle CC had a busy day today when they promoted the Ulster Road Race Championships in Eglinton. With recent changes to the category system this was no easy task as Foyle ran no less than six races to facilitate Senior men, women, Juniors and the new veteran categories of M40 , M50, and M60.

Foyle had chosen a tough 27 mile course with a lot of climbing which would test riders in all the races. Winners in each category would be worthy champions.

Ulster Youth Road Race and Time Trial Championships

The 2015 Ulster Youth Road Race and Time Trial Championships were hosted by Omagh Wheelers at the weekend.
